Crafting innovative new solutions from start to finishNexis Fibers’ innovation policy impacts on the entire value chain. The Company focuses on a wide range of applications, leveraging its experience and expertise. R&D, based on cross-fertilization between business units and technology transfers, continues to fuel the company’s growth.
Upstream, the Nexis Fibers R&D team constantly strives to push the limits of the intrinsic characteristics of its polymers, fibers and yarns products, to provide continuously enhanced properties, such as greater mechanical strength, heat resistance and UV protection, as well as new functional applications.
Downstream, the R&D team is market driven, interacting directly with customers at the early stage of the innovation process, to obtain direct market input on real expectations and to provide the right products at the right time and at the right cost. This is achieved through constant interaction between production plants, logistics operations and marketing specialists.
As proof of its successful innovation policies, 20% of Nexis Fibers sales are generated with products that are less than five years old. For example, for filtration applications, Nexis Fibers has developed a range of heat-resistant PPS staple fibers.
Airbag products are constantly tested and improved for better tear strength, gas permeability and heat resistance, with efforts being made to lower processing costs continuously by improving Nexis Fibers’ in-house weaving capabilities.
For the tires & MRG industry, Nexis Fibers uses its cabling and dipping lab facilities to make sure that high tenacity yarn properties are in line with the industry’s evolving needs, to meet key requirements for such critical features as modulus behavior and compatibility with other materials.
Nexis Fibers is also proving to be a valuable partner for the ropes and nets industry, developing specially protected yarns to increase the life cycle of final products.
In every area of development, the applications laboratory works closely with customers, to move R&D forward, in tune with markets worldwide.
